PURPOSE:To prevent the over-crushing of sintered ore and to improve the yield as sintered ore usable in a blast furnace, by intermittently rotating the protruding teeth of a crusher in crushing sintered iron ore by the use of a single spike roll-type crusher. CONSTITUTION:In crushing sinter cakes discharged from a sintering machine into massive state of >=50mm suitable for use in a blast furnace by means of a crusher consisting of protruding teeth 9 and receiving teeth 8, intermittent operation is carried out so that rotation of protruding teeth 9 is stopped every 120 deg. in the course of one rotation. In this way, the quantity of <=50mm sinter fines is reduced, so that yield of crushed sintered ore of >=50mm usable in a blast furnace can be improved.
