PURPOSE:To simply reutilize wet secondary dust from a converter at a low cost, to improve the yield of molten steel and to reduce the cost of manufacture by mixing the dust with natural graphite, pelletizing the mixture, charging the resulting pellets into the converter and refining them by blowing. CONSTITUTION:Wet secondary dust produced during the operation of a converter is mixed with natural graphite and the mixture is pelletized with a pelletizer. Natural graphite contg. >=about 80% C and <=about 0.05% S is preferably used as the natural graphite and the dust is mixed with the natural graphite in about (90-50):(10-50) ratio according to conditions during the operation of the converter. The resulting pellets are charged into the converter and refined by blowing.
