PURPOSE:To eliminate an ineffective signal such an echo signal, etc., by changing suitably the discrimination start time or the decision reference of a received signal. CONSTITUTION:The titled device is provided with a deciding means A for deciding the classification of the received signal, and a control means B for changing suitably the discrimination start time or the discrimination reference of the received signal. In such state, at the time of receiving a signal sent out of the other station, the timing of a receiving start of the signal sent out of the other station is changed in accordance with the kind of the signal. That is to say, at the time of receiving the sent signal out, the reception of a tonal signal is started immediately, and the reception of a binary signal is started after some prescribed time is elapsed. In such way, the signal sent from the other party of communication is received immediately, and without discriminating it, the discrimination start time or the discrimination reference of the received signal is set in accordance with the classification of the received signal, therefore, it does not occur that an ineffective signal such as an echo signal, etc., is read.
