<p>PURPOSE:To recover org. matter in the form of methane and to remove nitrogen and phosphorus by treating industrial waste water, etc., by methane fermentation, then treating the same by a photosynthesis reaction to convert hydrogen sulfide to a sulfuric acid. CONSTITUTION:The sewage, night soil, industrial waste water, etc., are treated by the methane fermentation and is then treated by the photosynthesis reaction to convert the hydrogen sulfide to the sulfuric acid. The photosynthesis reaction is effected by the preferential culture of one or several kinds of reddish sulfur bacteria or green sulfur bacteria which takes place when light is anaerobically radiated and the metabolization and propagation action of such bacteria. The treatment by the methane fermentation has a high decomposition rate of the org. matter in the waste water and >=80% of the CODcr in the treated water is volatile org. acids. Said treatment is used for such waste water which has a high conversion rate of the org. matter to methane and in which the ratio of COD to the nitrogen in the treated water is <=10. The org. matter is recovered in the form of methane by the above-mentioned method; in addition, the removal of the nitrogen and phosphorus is also possible.</p> |
