PURPOSE:To prevent air from infiltrating into a reservoir chamber even when the engine is not in motion by providing an interconnecting part between the reservoir chamber in a hydraulic rush adjuster and an external oil passage on the vertically upper part of a sidewall, and then providing a plunger head constituting the reservoir chamber with a whirl-stop. CONSTITUTION:A hydraulic rush adjuster, which is provided on one end of a rocker arm, is made up of a body 1 and a plunger head 7 which is placed within the body 1, and then, within the body 1 are provided a high pressure chamber 6, which is closed by means of a check valve 5, and a reservoir chamber 8 for storing oil. The reservoir chamber 8 is provided with an oil filler port 7b for introducing lubricating oil from the outside, and then, on the edge of the plunger head 7 is provided a pin 17 acting as a whirl-stop for the plunger head 7 in such a manner that it is connected with a cylinder head when the rush adjuster is assembled. At the time of such assembling, the oil filler port 7b is located with the pin 17 so that it is positioned uppermost.
