PURPOSE:To ensure uniform light emission and to prevent dispersion of luminous energy characteristics from greatly changing due to the passage of time by a method wherein LED chips produced out of a wafer are classified into plural groups based on their light-emitting intensity and an LED array head is so constructed that it contains a proper number of LED chips belonging to the same intensity level group. CONSTITUTION:LED array chips produced out of a wafer are grouped according to their light-emitting capability, and an LED array head is built of a certain number of LED array chips of the same intensity level. In this connection, for the generation of a prescribed LED driving current (b), a resistance value that a variable resistor 24 is to present is set beforehand for each LED chip. Upon application of a picture signal for a certain LED element to a terminal 5, the LED element is supplied with an LED driving current (b) for prescribed light emission. This ensures uniform light emission and there will be no great dispersion of luminous energy characteristics due to the passage of time. |
