PURPOSE:To eliminate background fog and to enhance the fastness of a developed color image, by forming a thermal recording material by providing a thermal color forming layer containing a leuco dye and a phthalic amide compound represented by a specific general formula on a support. CONSTITUTION:A leuco dye and a color developer represented by formula (wherein R1 is a hydrogen atom or a 1-6C alkyl group and R2 is a 1-12C alkyl group, a phenyl group, 1-2 alkyl substituted phenyl group, a 1-2C alkoxy substituted phenyl group, a hydroxy substituted phenyl group, a cyclohexyl group or a pyridyl group) are added to an aqueous medium along with a polyvinyl alcohol aqueous solution and all of the components are ground and mixed by a ball mill to prepare a thermal color forming layer coating solution. This coating solution is applied to a support and dried to obtain a thermal recording material. |
