PURPOSE:To permit stable brazing of not only the oxide film on a metallic surface but also stable metallic oxide such as ceramics by essentially incorporating Ag as an essential component and Cu and Be as auxiliary components into a titled alloy. CONSTITUTION:The alloy for brazing essentially consisting of Ag contains, by weight %, 10-15 Cu and 0.1-3.0 Be as the auxiliary components. The Cu lowers the m. p. of the Ag-Cu alloy and the shrinkage characteristic. The Be having the extremely high affinity to oxygen accelerates the effect of decomposing the oxide. The execution of brazing of the metal which is liable to form the oxide film to the surface such as beryllium-copper is, therefore, possible. Ceramics, of which the base material is the aggregate of the metallic oxide, is reduced by the Be and can be, therefore, brazed even if a flux is not used.
