PURPOSE:To improve extraction efficiency, workability, cost, product quality, etc., in the concentration of extracted tea liquid, by adding cellulose powder to extracted tea liquid before concentration, introducing the liquid into a tubular semipermeable membrane under high pressure and concentrating the liquid by reverse osmosis process. CONSTITUTION:Extracted tea liquid A added with 0.5-2wt% cellulose powder is charged in a storage tank 1 and continuously pressed into a reverse osmosis apparatus 3 with a high-pressure pump 2. The liquid is passed through a cylindrical module 4 under high pressure, concentrated to an extent corresponding to the volume of water permeated through a tubular semipermeable membrane fixed in the module 4 and returned to the storage tank 1. The extracted tea liquid is concentrated by repeating the above operation and the cellulose powder is separated from the treated liquid to obtain the objective concentrated product. The cellulose powder preliminarily added to the extracted tea liquid is effective in preventing the deposition of a gel layer on the surface of the semipermeable membrane and the deterioration of the permeation performance of the membrane.
