PURPOSE:To simply presume designing values of composition and shape conforming to the actual operation by simulating solidifying condition of a cast iron billet at the time of executing horizontal continuous casting by detaching time from a testing mold. CONSTITUTION:At the time of executing the horizontal continuous casting for the cast iron, by using the testing mold having the same size in accordance with the casting sectional shape, after casting the molten casting iron into the mold, the detaching time from the testing mold without breakout is found. Next, under this condition, the mold is detached as changing Si/C ratio and corner radius of the cast billet, and the model table is made by plural testing data. In succession, the aimed composition values and the corner radius value developing no chilling structure at the actual operation are presumed based on this model table. In this way, the presumption for the designing values of composition and shape conforming to the actual operation is simply executed.
