PURPOSE:To polish a magnetic head in an efficient manner, by feeding an abrasive tape along the longitudinal direction, holding it at two spots, where the feed paths are separated from each other, so as to cause the abrasive tape to be bent in a cross-sectional form, and rotating a magnetic head so as to cross this abrasive tape and to rub against the inner side. CONSTITUTION:An abrasive tape 2 comes into contact with concave surfaces 41a and 42a of holding members 41 and 42, and that it is attracted to these concave surfaces 41a and 42a because these concave surfaces are attracted by suction holes 43 and 44. Moreover, since the abrasive tape is pulled up at slow speed, a cross section of this abrasive tape 2 is bent into a circular form and thereby tensile force is produced between these holding members 41 and 42. Under this state, if a rotor 60 is advanced forward between these holding members 41 and 42 while rotating it, a magnetic head 3 held by the rotor 60 gors across the abrasive tape 2 by rotation, and its tip rubs against a surface of the inside of the abrasive tape 2 and thus polished. Since the tip of the magnetic head 3 runs along the bent inner surface of the abrasive tape 2, at each rotation, they thoroughly rub against each other along a width direction of the abrasive tape 2, thus efficient polishing is performable. |
