PURPOSE:To improve magnetic efficiency, by arranging a non-magnetic material at a part which is brought into contact and slided with a recording medium, and also providing a magnetic material at the base edge plane side of the non- magnetic material. CONSTITUTION:A ring type magnetic head is constituted of a non-magnetic material 1 formed at a tip end side, a magnetic material 2 formed at a base edge side, and a magnetic film body 4 being formed within the non-magnetic material 1, and the magnetic material 2, and sandwiching an operation gap 3. The non-magnetic material 1 has a non-magnetic property, and is formed by a material having a high hardness, and a high strength considering that a tip end plane side is brought into contact and slided with the recording medium, and the magnetic material 2 is formed by the material having a high permeability, and a superior soft magnetic characteristic. The head is constituted so as to have magnetic continuity by the magnetic film body 4, therefore, it is possible to improve a magnetic characteristic.
