Projectile firing system with automatic guidance or detonation

The system allows a passive projectile (B) having a transmitter (S) for directing electromagnetic radiation onto the target (F) fired in conjunction with each explosive projectile (A). The latter incorporates an automatic guidance system (SE) or a proximity detonation system using the electromagnetic radiation reflected by the target. Pref. the passive projectile (B) has a transmitter (S) providing a narrow radiation cone with a radiation direction approximately the same as the projectile trajectory. The two different types of projectile (A,B) may be fired one after the other by the same gun (E), or they may be fired simultaneously by two guns coupled to a common control processor. The system allows the inherent error to be reduced to give very good target accuracy.
