NEW MATERIAL:4,4-Dibromo-1,3-dimethyl-2-pyrazolin-5-one shown by formula 1. USE:Useful as an intermediate for producing a 4-(substituted phenyl) iminopyrazoline derivative useful as an agricultural fungicide. The compound shown by the formula I, for example, is heated with an aniline derivative such as toluidine, etc., in an organic solvent under heating to synthesize the above- mentioned compound useful as the agricultural fungicide such as 4- phenylimino-1,3-dialkyl-2-pyrazolin-5-one. PREPARATION:An aqueous solution of 5-hydroxy-1,3-dimethylpyrazole shown by formula II, a well-known compound, is reacted with bromine under cooling as shown the reaction formula to give the compound shown by the formula I.
