The panoramic periscope 10 on the upper cover 20 of an armoured vehicle is assigned a protective device 30. Brackets 32 (34) with a reinforcement 46 are rigidly joined to one another in the front and rear regions, pivotably mounted by means of shaft butts 38 in the front pillow blocks 44, and detachably fixed in the respective upper elongated hole 68 of retaining blocks 60 (62) by means of bolts 52 (54) in the illustrated protective position. In its protective position, a large free space 78 also involved in the protection is produced by the protective device 30 in front of the panoramic periscope 10. The bolts 52 (54) can be drawn out of the elongated holes 68 by actuating handles 56. The protective device 30 can then be lowered into a second position simply by being pivoted, detachably fixed once again in elongated holes 70 of the retaining blocks 60 (62), and then open up the unimpeded all-round view for the panoramic periscope 10. <IMAGE>
