PURPOSE:To easily and securely detect the thickness of a gift check at the time of its return by detecting the thickness at the return-direction front end part of the gift check when the gift check inserted into a gift check identifying device is returned. CONSTITUTION:A thickness detection sensor 1 is provided on the left (behind in the insertion direction of the gift check) of a data detection sensor 10. Then, the thickness is detected after data identification at the time of the insertion or at the early stage of the return at the time of the return. When the gift check is identified and accepted, the gift check 1 moves in the order of (A), (B), and (C). Then the data recorded on the signal belt are detected and decided by data detection sensors 9 and 10 while the gift check moves from (A) to (C). When the gift check reaches the position (C), the thickness detection sensor 11 contacts the thickness detection part 4 of the gift check 1, so the sensor detects whether or not the gift check is inserted together with another check one over another. |
