PURPOSE:To improve heat resistance and processability, by blending an allyl ether-substd. phenol novolak with an N,N'-bismaleimide compd. and an epoxy resin. CONSTITUTION:This thermosetting resin compsn. contains an allyl ether-substd. phenolic novolak (a), an N,N'-bismaleimide compd. (b) and an epoxy resin (c). The allyl ether-substd. phenolic novolak (a) is a resin contg. substantially no phenolic hydroxyl group, obtd. by reacting an allyl halide with a novolak resin in the presence of an alkali. Said novolak is obtd. by condensing a phenol substd. by an alkyl, an alkenyl, an aryl, an aralkyl or a halogen with an aldehyde. The components (a) and (b) are used in a ratio of the double bond of the component (a) to that of the component (b) of 0.5-2.0. The component (c) is used in an amount of pref. 20-150pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. component (a).
