PURPOSE:To obtain satisfactory color reproduction even at the time of an input color image signal of any dynamic range is supplied by converting a signal in accordance with the color image signal of an input, especially, the dynamic range of a luminance signal. CONSTITUTION:An RGB signal, after it is A/D-converted, is respectively stored into image memories 5, 6 and 7, matrix-calculated by a matrix arithmetic circuit 8 and converted to Y to show luminance and R-Y and B-Y as a color difference signal. These luminance and color difference signals are prescribed-converted by converting tables 9 and 10 and converted to luminance Y', hue H and saturation C. For the luminance conversion of the converting table 9, in order to match the dynamic range of an input image signal and the reproduction range (for example, ink) of an output, luminance Y is regularized and the luminance Y' is obtained. The luminance Y, the hue H and the saturation C' are converted to Cy, M and Ye by a color correcting conversion table 11, further, masking- converted to execute the obscure color component correction of ink, inputted to a head driver 12 and printed. |
