PURPOSE:To develop an amorphous alloy having extremely superior corrosion resistance even in an acidic solution containing chlorine ions, by subjecting a molten Co-based alloy containing specific amounts of Cr, Mo, and Zr of Hf to cooling at very high speed. CONSTITUTION:The molten Co-based alloy having a composition consisting of, by atom, 10-40% Cr, 0.1-8% Mo, 5-15% Zr or Hf, and the balance Co is blown against a rapidly rotating water-cooled copper roll. etc., so as to be cooled very rapidly at a cooling rate of 10<6> deg.C/sec. In this way, the amorphous Co-based alloy having superior corrosion resistance even in a liquid containing Cl ions, such as hydrochloric acid, etc., can be obtained.
