PURPOSE:To obtain a sanitary and economic air-conditioning system by a method wherein atmosphere, taken into a total heat exchanging unit, is precooled or preheated and is mixed with the much amount of circulating air from a room, thereafter, is cooled or heated to a predetermined temperature and is fed into the room. CONSTITUTION:Upon room cooling operation, dampers 12a, 12b, 10a are opened and the dampers 10b, 10c are closed. Atmospere, corresponding to the amount of 20%, for example, of the total feeding amount of air into a room, is introduced into a total heat exchanging unit 8 through the first damper 12a and 20% of circulating air in the room is introduced through the second damper 12b. The atmosphere is precooled in a total heat exchanger 13 by circulating air returned from the room and half of the air, for example, is discharged by a fan 11a to the outside of the room. The precooled atmosphere is sent to an atmosphere cooling unit 7 and is mixed with air, whose amount is corresponding to 80% of circulating air from the room, thereafter, is sent into a conventional package 1 through a dust collector 5 and the temperature thereof is reduced to a predetermined temperature by a cooling machine 2, then, is supplied into the room through a humidifier 6. Upon room heating operation in winter, the dampers 12a, 12b, 10a are opened and the other dampers 10b, 10c are closed. In this case, a heating machine 2 in the conventional package 1 is operated.
