PURPOSE:To control the supply of a developer by a simple structure by providing a return opening which is formed in the bottom surface of a developer tank and returns a developer to a developer bottle, a developer supply opening which is formed at a higher position than the connection part of the return opening and guides the developer to a development part, and its opening/closing means. CONSTITUTION:When a solenoid 125 is excited, an actuator 125A and a valve body 124 are elevated to open the developer supply opening 123, and the developer in the developer tank 126 is supplied to a conduit 122 by its own weight. A compression coil spring 127 is fitted at the intermediate part of the valve body 124 opposite the ceiling surface of the developer tank 126 and when the solenoid 125 is not excited, the valve body 124 is pressed against the developer supply opening 123, which is closed. Further, the return opening 141 for connecting a return conduit 140 is formed in the bottom surface of the developer tank 126 slightly below the developer supply opening 123 and an excessive developer is returned to the developer bottle.
