PURPOSE:To maintain a high sensitivity and a high reading accuracy even in long-time preservation under severe environmental conditions, by oxidizing In at the surface of a recording layer comprising In and GeS. CONSTITUTION:An information-recording medium which comprises on a base a recording layer comprising In and Gesx (wherein 0 < x <= 2) capable of recording and/or reading information by laser is subjected to a treatment in which the surface of the recording layer is oxidized to convert indium at the surface part into an oxide, thereby reducing the mobility of indium, preventing change with time from occurring and markedly enhancing durability while maintaining excellent properties of the recording layer. Oxidation of indium can be carried out by, for example, subjecting the surface of the recording layer provided by a vapor deposition method to a glow discharge treatment. It is preferable that the depth in which indium is oxidized is in the range of about 10-100 Angstrom from the surface of the recording layer. |
