Roller shutter for sloping roof and veranda, comprising the usual members, a casing 1, with a shaft 2, a motor 3, a screen 4, a bearing 6, a flange 7, a guide 8 and lateral guidance slideways 5, all of them placed on or under a sloping roof, and functioning by means of one or more straps 10, under permanent tension enabling the roller formed by the screen 4 to be kept compact, these straps 10 being alternately wound up and unwound with and about the screen 4 on the one hand and by the other end on independent tension devices 13 for each strap 10, the restoring pull being achieved by springs 14 pretensioned to the stress desired, these tension devices being free to move in rotation on a shaft 11 parallel to the shaft 2 in the casing 1. The invention is applicable to any sloping opening in a building. <IMAGE>
