The invention relates to a pump with variable cylinder capacity which can be used in hydrostatic transmissions. It comprises 14 identical pistons 11 with parallel axes distributed in two barrels 5 and 6 which are mounted symmetrically with respect to the central distributor 7. The inclined plates 16, driven by the transmission shaft 1 by means of gears 32 transmit to the pistons 11 a reciprocating movement whose stroke is constant. They are mounted on the bearings 3 which may revolve around the shaft 1. The cylinder capacity is maximum when the bearings 3 occupy the positions in the Figure; if, starting from these positions, they are caused to revolve respectively through angles phi and - phi there will be a uniform phase shift of the pistons 11 and the cylinder capacity is multiplied by cos phi . <IMAGE>
