PURPOSE:To prevent resonance phenomenon by constituting the number of guide vanes and the number of runners of the hydraulic machinery such as water wheel having guide vanes so as to satisfy a specific relation. CONSTITUTION:The number of runner vanes 9 of the runner of a variable speed hydraulic machine is set to the half of the number of guide vanes 7. Therefore, the number of diameter nodes of the runner 4 considered as rotary disc becomes the higher order over that of the runner vane 9. Therefore, the diameter node vibration excited by the hydraulic mutual interference between the runner 4 and the guide vane 7 can be limited to the high mode vibration having a large damping performance, and the fatigue destruction due to resonance can be avoided.
