PURPOSE:To improve the separation efficiency of a solid and a liquid, by a method wherein a container having a centrifugal separator mounted therein is formed into a hermetically closed structure and a solid-liquid mixture is made to flow-in through a suction means and the lid body of the container is opened corresponding to the thickness of the solid adhered to the inner wall of the container. CONSTITUTION:When a hydraulic cylinder 12 extends by the oil pressure from a hydraulic source 14 to allow a solid to fall and the solid is entirely scraped off, the hydraulic cylinder 12 returns to the original position. Suction operation by a root blower is stopped by the operation of the hydraulic cylinder 12. When scrapping-off is finished and the hydraulic cylinder 12 returns to the original position, a lid body 23 is closed to start suction operation and a first inflow state is restored to repeat a series of operations. The substance discharged from a discharge port 24 when the lid body 23 is opened is a solid other than water and only water is recovered in a vacuum tank from a hose 22.
