PURPOSE:To prevent the oversize of a cooling system by providing an air-cooled section and a section to be cooled with a cooling refrigerant on a radiator of an intercooler which employs water as the refrigerant and using the refrigerant-cooled section additionally as required. CONSTITUTION:A high temperature air fed from a supercharger 7 is cooled by an intercooler 30 through which the water circulates. The water fed from the intercooler 30 and passed through a heatexchanger 31 passes through a three-way valve 64' and an air-cooled radiator section 32 under normal operation and circulates through the three-way valve 64 to the intercooler 30. Under heavy load of engine, three-way valves 64, 64' are switched and the water passes through the cooling section 66 of a vehicle cooling system and circulates again. Since the three-way valves 64, 64' are switched by a controller 70 such that the cooling section 66 is used according to the operating condition of engine, the size of the vehicle cooling system can be reduced.
