A palate bracing wire of the generic type employed in the invention is described in US-A 3792529. The invention relates to an improvement of this bracing wire by a double use, so that the bracing wire can be applied medially as described in the patent specification for twisting back the first permanent molars. The bracing wire can then be removed and fastened the other way round on the molars distally in order to use them as anchorage molars on transmission of forces to the upper molars. The improved bracing wire has an anchorage spur between the terminal section and the central arched section which is intended for anchorage of a clamped band in order to exert a force upon the canine teeth. The anchorage spurs of the wire are at the same height as the centre of the respective permanent molars when the bracing wire is fixed in the patient's mouth by the orthodontist. In the second use of the bracing wire, it can be removed and turned about 180 DEG and fixed once again on the first molars distally, the anchorage spurs now being connected by lingual clamped bands with hooks which are fixed on the canine teeth on the same side of the jaw as the molar, and the hook fastened on the canine tooth being at the level of the centre of the corresponding canine tooth. |
