PURPOSE:To make the vertical sprue removing work of after the knock-out of a die unnecessary and improve the working efficiency by inserting the rod of heat resistant material into the vertical sprue where a molten metal is in a melting state and solidifying the molten metal of the inside of the vertical sprue in a separation state. CONSTITUTION:After pouring a molten metal into a mold 1 the rod 7 formed by the resistant material having the same or slightly larger cross section as the minimum cross sectional part 6 of the vertical sprue 4 of the mold 1 is forcibly inserted into the vertical sprue 4, while the molten metal of the vertical sprue 4 is in a molten state. The molten metal of the inside of the vertical sprue 4 is then ascended at its upper face by the rod 7, but the outer periphery of the rod 7 is closely fitted to the inner wall of the vertical sprue 4 and the molten metal of this part is separated. In this state the molten metal of the inside of the mold 1 is solidified and the cast product of after the knock-out is taken up in the state of being separated into vertical sprues 4a and 4b. In this way, the removing work of the vertical sprue 4 of after the mold 1 knok-out is made unnecessary.
