A receptacle (324) for use in a medical fluid administration set (20). The receptacle (324) is adapted to receive a cartridge (310) containing a drug or other benefitial agent for passive reconstitution of the agent when the cartridge (310) is plugged into the receptacle. The receptacle includes a piston-like injection site (338) which moves from a normal, first position to a second, stressed position upon mounting of the cartridge upon the receptacle. With the injection site (338) in the second position all fluid flowing into the receptacle must pass through the cartridge chamber (106) before passing downstream to the patient.
