摘要 PURPOSE:To ensure a simple and quantitative discrimination for chromium content in the low-chromium steel, by carrying out an electrolysis with use of a strong oxidizing agent such as ammonium persulfate, HNO3, H2O2 and the like. CONSTITUTION:The thick filter paper 2a impregnated with the electrolyte that dissolves the object to be tested 1 is set at the side of cathode plate 4; while the thin filter paper 2b impregnated previously with ammonium persulfate and then dried is set at the side of anode of the object to be tested 1. These two papers are stacked together in opposition to each other. Then a DC power source 3 is applied between the anode 1 and the cathode plate 4 to carry out an electrolysis. Thus the oxide ion of chromium eluted from the anode 1 is accumulated on the paper 2b. This ion is made to emit light by a light emitting reagent composed of the alcohol solution of diphenlcarbazide. This coloring is compared with the standard colorimetric table prepared previously to discriminate the chromium content. In such way, the chromium content can be discriminated in a simple and quantitative way for the low-chromium steel (<=1%).
