PURPOSE:To increase the impregnation amount of active material per impregnation cycle by immersing a sintered substrate in a mixed solution of nickel nitrate and cobalt nitrate, drying, immersing again in a mixed solution having lower concentration than the first mixed solution, then drying. CONSTITUTION:A porous sintered nickel substrate is immersed in a mixed solution of nickel nitrate and cobalt nitrate, dried, immersed again in a mixed solution having lower concentration than the first mixed solution, then dried to finish one cycle. After this cycle is repeated several times, nitrates are converted into hydroxides in alkaline solution to form a cathode plate for alkaline storage battery. By reducing elusion rate of cobalt during alkali substitution, fixing of nit rates into pores is enhanced and their impregnation rate into the pores are increased. Therefore, the impregnation amount of active material per impregnation cycle is increased and man-hour of impregnation is decreased. |
