PURPOSE:To make the operation accurate and simplify the structure, by advancing and retracting a valve stem relative to an inner hole of a valve seat formed of an elastic ring by the operation of a rod of a wax thermoelement. CONSTITUTION:A rod 30 of a wax thermoelement S is pushed out at temperatures higher than a set temperature to insert a rod-like valve 5 into an inner hole of an annular valve seat 2 formed of an elastic material, thereby closing the valve seat 2 and obtaining a valve closed condition. When the temperature decreases near the set temperature, the pushing pressure of the rod 30 disappears, and accordingly the valve 5 is retracted from the valve seat 2 by the biasing force of a spring 4, thereby obtaining a valve open condition. When the ambient temperature becomes higher than the set temperature, and the pushing pressure of the rod 30 becomes large, the rod-like valve 5 passes through the inner hole of the valve seat 2 to release the pushing pressure tending to be applied to the wax thermoelement S and the valve seat 2.
