This invention relates to cobalt free maraging steel which have excellent strength and toughness. The characteristic composition of this maraging steel is Fe-(16.5-19.5wt.%) Ni with addition of Mo, Ti, Al and carbon in the range; 0.5-4wt.%, Mo, 1.25-2.5wt.% Ti, 1wt.% Al (maximum content), 0.05wt.%C (maximum content) and impurities. (If Mo wt.% is less than 1.5wt.%, Ti must have more than 1.8wt%. and if Ti wt.% is less than 1.4wt.%, Mo must have more than 2.25 wt.%).
