PURPOSE:To prevent the breakage of elements of an electric power converter caused by the DC voltage in a start mode by having control so that the DC voltage is not raised up to the open voltage level of a solar battery when the power converter is started. CONSTITUTION:A switch control circuit 11 sends an output signal SA to a switch 9 set at the side of a solar battery 1 so that the switch 9 is closed. Receiving the signal SA, the switch 9 connects the battery 1 and a current control type inverter 5. Thus the DC power PDC is supplied to the inverter 5 from the battery 1 via the switch 9 and therefore the DC voltage of the inverter 5 rises up. Here the AC power PAC is supplied to a load system 2 via switch 10 set at the side of the system 2 in response to the DC voltage level since the system 2 is connected to the inverter 5. Then a normal power control (maximum power control) is secured when an inverter control circuit 12 detects a prescribed level of the DC voltage or the lapse of a fixed time.
