摘要 PURPOSE:To produce the titled cermet having excellent machinability by forming an intermediate layer essentially consisting of a group IVa compd. to a specific thickness between a substrate consisting of a specific hard phase and binding phase and coating layer at the time of coating TiCN to a specific thickness on the above-mentioned substrate. CONSTITUTION:The binding phase to bind the hard phase is constituted of 1 or >=2 kinds of the Fe group and Cr group. The hard phase is a double carbonitride phase mainly constituted of a metallic component and nonmetallic component. The metallic component consists essentially of Ti and contains 1 or >=2 kinds among the groups IVa, V, and VIa of the periodic table. The nonmetallic component consists of C, N. The ratio between the metallic component and nonmetallic component is specified to 0.8-1.07. The substrate is constituted of 10-20% binding metal and 80-90% double carbonitride phase and the TiCN and/or TiN is coated at 1-15mu on such substrate. The intermediate layer essentially consisting of the nitride of the group VIa is formed to 1-10mu between the substrate and the coating phase in this stage. The cermet which is remarkably improved in the resistance to wear, heat and welding and is adequate for cutting tools is thus obtd.
