Provision is made for the belt entry in underground mining of a lining manipulator which has a clamping device which is arranged on an arm, constructed to be of variable length, and by means of which the individual side sections of the roadway arches can be gripped and drawn out of their position. The variable length arm is positioned for this purpose on a scaffold which serves as an underframe and for its part covers the drive of the face conveyor and is connected thereto. As a result, it is safe to work on the scaffold and the lining can be released, deposited there or accommodated elsewhere. The clamping device has two pincer parts, which are designed to be pivotable, and a pivotable double abutment, with the result that the face rain which is respectively to be gripped is securely mounted, and can be pivoted and manipulated. <IMAGE>
