The electric tool has a shaft (5) with a coupling ring (24) which is arranged displaceably thereon and a power-output wheel (8) which is rotatable, and non-displaceable, in relation thereto. The coupling ring (24) can be displaced into the respective coupling position via a trip cam (28), the trip cam (28) being pressed by the force of a spring (34) against a stop shoulder (35) of the rotatable actuation element (29). The stop shoulder (35) is part of the contour of a recess (38) which permits the actuation element (29) to turn independently of the position of the trip cam (28). As a result, engagement and disengagement is possible without damage in the operational and stationary states of the electric tool. <IMAGE>
