PURPOSE:To reduce the danger for misuse of an ID card by collating the feature point data on the user's own fingerprint with that on the user himself/herself stored in an external memory device. CONSTITUTION:The ID number recorded on an input ID card is read and sent to a fingerprint collator 3. The collator 3 retrieves the feature point data registered to an external memory device 2 based on the received ID number and collates the feature point data read out of the device 2 with that received from a direct fingerprint scanner 1 and sends the result of this collation to a terminal equipment 5. Then the fingerprint image received from the scanner 1 is sent to an ID card device 4 via the collator 3. The device 4 contains a function to print the received fingerprint image onto the ID card. While the equipment 5 displays the result of collation and various indications are inputted to the collator 3 from the equipment 5. |
