PURPOSE:To manufacture an inorganic paint composition exerting a rust- preventing effect on metal products, by incorporating specific amounts of pearl pigment to a binder, for inorganic paint, of potassium silicate in which specific amounts of superfine-grained silica are dissolved by heating. CONSTITUTION:Potassium silicate (expressed in terms of solids) (100pts.wt.) and 10-40pts.wt. superfine-grained silica are placed in a reaction vessel and are agitated at about 80-100 deg.C for about 1-2hr, so that superfine-grained silica is perfectly dissolved in potassium silicate so as to be formed into a binder for inorganic paint. Further, water may be added, at this time, within the upper limits of about 400pts.wt. for 100pts.wt. of solid content in the mixture. Subsequently, 15-100pts.wt. pearl pigment is added to 100pts.wt. of above- mentioned binder for inorganic paint, which is mixed and agitated for about 2-4hr to be uniformized. In this way, the composition applying iris-colored films to practically all articles except plastics and wood can be obtained. At the time of application, the amount of the paint to be applied and the film thickness are regulated to about 60-100g/m<2> as solids and about 10-15mu, respectively, and heating is applied at about 220 deg.C for about 10-20min for solidification. |
