In the case of a vehicle door, in particular a door for the driver's cab of a lorry, a special mounting for a window pane, arranged in particular such that it can be hoisted, is provided. The tubular door is composed of an inner plate and an outer plate which are attached to each other. This results in a projection, provided by a connecting groove, around the window opening. A window frame for the aforementioned window pane is held indirectly on the tubular door. In this connection, the outer portion of the window frame is supported against the aforementioned projection of the tubular door and the inner portion of the window frame is supported against a rigid panel shell. This panel shell is of multi-part design. At least one part of the shell forms a frame-holding strip mounted along the window frame. This holding strip is realised by an angular profile strip, the first leg of which is attached such that it bears against a case region of the tubular door. This case region extends on the inner plate along the projection, supporting the outer side of the window frame, adjacent to the door inner side. The second leg of the L-profile of the frame holding strip runs approximately parallel to the aforementioned projection. The window frame is received between this projection and the second leg of the circumferential strip.
