PURPOSE:To display a specific picture in response to a pair of variable density width and level by reflecting the specific picture by the specific variable density width and level, storing the picture information containing plural specific pictures and allocating plural pairs of variable density width and level to the picture information against a desired specific picture. CONSTITUTION:A file F1 stores the window width WW and the window level WL. A breast part, for example, is selected as a scan area by the function of a scan area selection switch SB and therefore a CT image of the breast part of a subject (not shown here) is photographed by an X-ray CT scanner device CT. When a clear display of a lung part is desired in response to the CT image of the breast part, a preset window having width BAWW and level BAWL is called out of the file F1. In the same way, the preset windows of widths BBWW and BCWW and levels BBWL and BCWL are called out of the F1 for clear displays of bones and other parts respectively. These displays are stored in a file F2 together with the CT image of the breast part.
