In the motor vehicle transmission described, controlled exclusively by clutches and comprising a drive shaft and an output shaft, both the drive shaft and the output shaft have hollow shafts enclosing the central shaft, which hollow shafts are connected to disc clutches running in the dry space. For example, with two disc clutches arranged on the drive shaft and three on the output shaft and four gear trains, six stages can be produced, selectable virtually without any interruption of the frictional connection. A shift transmission of optimum efficiency and taking up little space is created at low cost, which can be shifted manually or automatically by way of a microprocessor.
