In a chain conveyor fastening apparatus having a chain bed for the upper chain which is designed as a centre chain or double centre chain, comprising plates which can be screwed together and form cutouts from the bottom plate of the upper conveying strand, are profiled on one side and have aligned pivoting journals in bearings arranged under the bottom plate, the pivoting plates which are provided with the pivoting journals and each form half of the outer chain bed being sunk in with their profiled side and forming the chain bed after being swung open, it is provided according to the invention that the journals are designed so as to be axially displaceable in the journal bearings and the journal bearings are designed so as to be fixed in both running directions of the chain conveyor, and that the pivoting plates which are upwardly oriented with their profiled side in the bottom plate are arranged under the cover plates which can be bolted down and in the case of double centre chains each form an inner half of the chain bed, which half is downwardly oriented in the case of covered and sunk-in pivoting plates.
