The invention relates to an ionisation chamber having a pressure-resistant, cylindrical outer housing (1) which is connected to earth potential and in which a cylindrical voltage electrode and a signal electrode are accommodated coaxially. In order to create an ionisation chamber having a uniform response sensitivity over the entire area of the inlet window (12), the voltage electrode consists of a rotationally symmetrical cup (2) having an opening to the inlet window (12), which opening is closed by a cover (4) in the form of a grid. The base (3) of the cup rests on electrically insulating supports (7) and has a centre hole (8) for the electrically insulating bushing (9).
