PURPOSE:To obtain a recording medium having information not visually discriminable and having excellent anti-forgery properties, by sequentially providing an IR-absorbing layer, a metallic thin film layer and a hiding layer on a base. CONSTITUTION:An IR-absorbing layer 1, a metallic thin film layer 2, a hiding layer 3 and, if required, a protective layer 4 are sequentially provided on a base 10. The base 10 is formed from a plastic, a metal, a paper, an impregnated paper or the like, used either singly or as a composite material. The IR-absorbing layer 1 is formed from a resin having IR absorbing properties in a thickness of 1-200 mum on the ensire surface or a part of the base 10. The metallic thin film layer 2 is a layer for recording information through breakdown and removal of the layer by heating by a thermal head, and the thickness of the layer is preferably as small as possible, provided that the layer prevents IR rays from penetrating therethrough and ensures easy breakdown and removal of the layer by heating. The hiding layer 3 hides the parts where the layer 2 is broken down and removed and the parts where the layer 2 is left, in an invisible state. From the viewpoint of heat resistance, a coloring agent used in the hiding layer 3 is preferably a pigment, and is preferably one having high reflectance in a visible light range and high transmittance in an IR region. Further, the protective layer 4 for enhancing abrasion resistance is provided, if required. |
