PURPOSE:To provide the titled polymer containing terephthaloyl diamine unit, isophthaloyl diamine unit and specific aromatic mono- and diimide bond unit at specific composition, having excellent heat-resistance, sliding characters, impact resistance, moldability, etc., and useful as a molding material, etc. CONSTITUTION:The objective polyamide imide has an MFR of >=0.1 measured at 300 deg.C under 10kg load and is composed of (A) 0-99mol% terehthaloyl diamine component of formula I (R<0> is 4-25C bivalent hydrocarbon group; X is H or bond), (B) 5-90mol% isophthaloyl diamine component unit of formula II and (C) 2-95mol% imide bond component unit of formula III and/or 2-95mol% imide bond component unit of formula IV wherein the molar ratio of A/B is 90/10-0/100 and that of (A+B)/(C+D) is 97/3-5/95. It is produced by the polycondensation of an acid component consisting of terephthalic acid, isophthalic acid, trimellitic acid and/or pyromellitic acid and an amine component consisting of hexamethylenediamine, etc.
