A nonaqueous, particularly a lithium-oxyhalide, cell, comprising at least a liquid cathode and a pressure-sensitive vent, is characterised in having a specific void volume, defined at 21 DEG C, which ensures venting both before a dangerous pressure build-up can occur and before the internal temperature can reach the melting point of the anode, while still permitting a good service-life.
