PURPOSE:To enable magnetic information and character information to be recorded and reproduced on the same recording medium by the same device, by providing a thermal transfer printer capable of printing the character information in a serial direction with a magnetic head for recording and reproducing the magnetic information. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic head 24 is fixed on a movable plate 25 capable of being moved in X-and Y-directions on a carriage 18, and recording of magnetic information is conducted by pressing the head 24 against a magnetic stripe part 15a provided at a predetermined position on a recording paper 15. Namely, the magnetic information is sent from a memory 4 to the head 24 to perform magnetic recording, and simultaneously, the carraige 18 is moved in the direction of an arrow B by rotating a column position moving pulse motor 22, thereby performing serial recording. Thus, the magnetic head as a magnetic recording means and a printing head as a character information recording means are mounted on separate carriages so that they can be separated from and connected to each other, whereby load on a driving means for moving the carriages can be alleviated. |
