PURPOSE:To attain the recording/reproduction of picture information on an original converted into an electric signal by a read section by means of even a picture reader itself by providing a memory section in the inside of the picture reader. CONSTITUTION:A read section 2 converting picture information on an original on an original platen into an electric signal, the original platen on which the original is placed closely, and a memory section applying recording/reproduction of the read picture information are provided. Since the memory section 3 is provided in the inside of the picture reader, the picture information of the original 13 read by the read section 2 and converted into an electric signal is recorded/reproduced. Even the picture reader itself uses the read section 2 to record the picture information of the original converted into an electric signal into the memory section and the picture information is reproduced by connecting the reader to an external recorder or picture processing unit as required.
